Meet the Dolphin Training Team
Maggie McCarthy - My Accessible Trainer
Maggie joined Dolphin at their Worcester offices in September 2010, after having spent twenty years living in New Zealand. Having taught English & Media for ten years, Maggie is very aware of the issues facing dyslexic learners and their educators.
It was Maggie’s interest in dyslexia which led her to become involved in pastoral care, ‘And you can’t work in pastoral care for nine years and fail to make the link between classroom behaviour and learning needs!’ Maggie is a self-confessed zealot of the Accessible Resources Pilot Project and says you only have to look at the project outcomes to know that "every school should provide accessible resources!"
Maggie loves to read, travel, garden and plan adventures with her family. She can’t wait to go up in one of the colourful hot-air balloons she so often sees on the Worcester horizon at sunrise.
Neill McBride - SuperNova and Guide Trainer
Neill joined Dolphin in 1995. Having previously worked in both Product and Dealer support, Neill now looks after documentation and translations of our software, and also trains clients on Dolphin SuperNova. Neill has been using SuperNova ever since it was first released, giving him a wealth of user experience and product knowledge to share with his delegates. He really enjoys the opportunity training gives him to hear about other people's experiences and views of the products. Neill is also an avid Liverpool FC supporter!
Spencer Ellis - Mapping and Scripting Trainer
Spencer has been with Dolphin since 2003. He began at Dolphin writing map files, until scripting also became a part of his job for version 9. He now creates and maintains many of the maps and scripts for Supernova, provides a consultancy service for clients, and also trains other how to script and map Dolphin software.
Spencer has now trained Dolphin mapping and scripting in countries all over the world, including South Africa, UAE, and Sweden, and within a number of large organisations, including Emirates and RNIB. Spencer particularly enjoys training, as it's a great chance to meet a variety of new people, hear their questions, and find out what they are interested in trying to accomplish with a script.... not to mention the travel!
In his spare time Spencer enjoys playing with his daughter Bethan (who demands most of his time), but also finds time for a bit of cycling, photography, and Fifa 2010!
Anna Brinning Karlsson - AltFormat Trainer
Anna joined Dolphin as an Account Manager in 2009. With a keen interest in pedagogy and teaching methods, Anna trains primarily on Dolphin's Alt Format range of products in Scandinavia. Describing herself as "a bit of a theatre monkey" Anna really enjoys the opportunity training gives her to demonstrate, and show exactly what the products can do for people. She also enjoys meeting all the new people her work brings her into contact with . In her spare time, Anna teaches dog training, in addition to training and entering competitions with her own Australian Shepherds
