DAISY, large print, MP3, Braille: This session will introduce the very basics of creating alternative formats, and demonstrate how existing technology can be employed to make the creation process far more productive and time saving than ever before. Perfect for Disability Support Officers, low vision and blindness specialists and LD advisors, this session will introduce the basics of creating high quality MP3, large print, Braille and accessible eBook (DAISY) alternative formats. The presenter will continue to demonstrate how to quickly create bespoke alternative formats to meet different learner requirements from the same source content, demonstrating very tangible productivity gains.

Dolphin Easy Converter - 1 Source 5 Formats 50 Clicks (SI-41):

Friday, January 1. 2.35pm to 3.35pm

Room: Caribbean I

The format preferred by students and that best fits their needs depends on several factors, such as the nature of the print disability, the type of class, the type of material, etc. Those of us responsible for the production of alt format often find it time-consuming, expensive, cumbersome, and even impossible to convert a source file to the various formats requested by students with a variety of needs and preferences. This presentation is a hands-on session dedicated to using Easy Converter’s conversion wizard to output 1 source file (MS Word, open EPUB, PDF, HTML, Text, scanned paper documents, NIMAS, DAISY, RTF, Kurzweil 3000, Image file) to 5 alternate formats (DAISY, MP3 Audio, Large Print, Braille, Text).
