Highlight does not work after less than “<”and greater than “>” characters

Applies to:

  • Dolphin Producer, Dolphin Speaker
  • EasyProducer

Description:

When Dolphin Producer is set to highlight on “Word” level, words following less than or greater than characters might not be highlighted. When the sentence after the character is read the highlight will come back.

The reason why this happens is some speech synthesisers do not report correct text positioning when encountering these characters.

Example:
Set highlight level to “Word” level.
Use any ScanSoft RealSpeak SAPI 5 voice.
The words behind the less than character < will not be highlighted.

From this new sentence highlighting will work correctly again.

Solution/workaround:

1. Do not use “Word” level highlight when these characters are in the document
2. Change speech synthesiser
