Speech announces “Draw OSD” or is not reading onscreen text on an HP (Hewlett Packard) Computer

Applies to:

  • SuperNova Access Suite
  • SuperNova Pro
  • SuperNova Magnifier
  • SuperNova Reader Magnifier
  • SuperNova Screen Reader

Description:

The speech is reading very little text on the screen on an HP computer. The status bar of the Supernova Control Panel always states Explorer.exe regardless of which application is being used. Sometimes the speech announces “Draw OSD” when navigating around the screen.

Solution/workaround:

The problem is caused by a program running in the background called "RtVOsdService Installer". This program can be turned off without causing any harm. To do this:

1. Press WINDOWS KEY+R. The "Run" dialog box opens.
2. Type "msconfig" and press ENTER. The "System Configuration" dialog box opens.
3. LEFT CONTROL + TAB to the "Services" property sheet.
4. DOWN ARROW to the ""RtVOsdService Installer" item.
5. Press SPACEBAR. This deselects the checkbox.
6. TAB to the "OK" button and press ENTER. The "System Configuration" dialog box closes.

After the computer is next restarted, the speech should announce onscreen text correctly. If the problem continues, please contact Dolphin Product Support.
