When using the “Check for Updates” feature in Supernova, you are informed there are updates available. After updating, the files remain available for download.

Applies to:

  • SuperNova Access Suite
  • SuperNova Magnifier
  • SuperNova Reader Magnifier
  • SuperNova Screen Reader

Description:

After downloading all available updates from the “Check for Updates” feature, despite being informed that all updates have been downloaded successfully, you are prompted to download the same updates the next time you check.

Solution/workaround:

This could be caused by some conflicting files in your Supernova Settings folder. You need to remove the conflicting files.

To do this:

NB: You will need to ensure "Show Hidden Files and Folders" is ON. This option can be found in Tools > Folder Options > View > in Windows Explorer.

For Windows Vista and Windows 7

1. Press WINDOWS KEY+R. The "Run" dialog box opens
2. Type in the following then choose "OK" - your user profile folders will open.

%USERPROFILE%

3. Use the UP and DOWN ARROW keys to select "App Data" and press ENTER. The "App Data" folder opens.
4. Use the UP and DOWN ARROW keys to select "Local" and press ENTER. The "Local" folder opens.
5. Use the UP and DOWN ARROW keys to select "Dolphin" and press ENTER. The "Dolphin" folder opens.
6. Use the UP and DOWN ARROW keys to select the folder that relates to the version of Supernova you are running, for example:

  • SnovaSuite1204 would be Supernova Access Suite 12.04
  • SnovaRead1203 would be Supernova Screen reader 12.03
  • SnovaMag1201 would be Supernova Magnifier 12.01
  • SnovaReadMag1204 would be Supernova Reader Magnifier 12.04

NB: There may be several folders in this location if more than one version of Supernova has been installed at any time, for example if Supernova 12.01 has been updated to 112.02.

7. Use the UP and DOWN ARROW keys to select "Settings" and press ENTER. The "Settings" folder opens.
8. Use the UP and DOWN ARROW keys to select any files that have names relating to the files that are not downloading successfully. For example, if a file relating to "Mozilla Firefox" is not updating, delete any files relating to Mozilla Firefox in this folder and so on.
9. Restart Supernova. If the problems persist, delete ALL files located within the "Settings" folder and then restart Supernova.

For Windows XP

1. Press WINDOWS KEY+R. The "Run" dialog box opens
2. Type in the following then choose "OK" - your user profile folders will open.

%USERPROFILE%

3. Use the UP and DOWN ARROW keys to select "Local Settings" and press ENTER. The "Local Settings" folder opens.
4. Use the UP and DOWN ARROW keys to select "Application Data" and press ENTER. The "Application Data" folder opens.
