Changes to Google Search
Applies to:
- Dolphin Guide
- Guide HandsFree
Description:
Google isn’t bringing up your Search Results?
Solution/workaround:
Recently Google have updated their webpage and as a result screen readers view things in a different order.
Previously when you searched with Google, Guide would start reading from the first search result. Now however, when you search it will read the webpage from top to bottom, beginning with the first links on the page such as "Search, Images, Maps, Play, YouTube", etc. This means getting to the information you want takes a bit longer and can be frustrating.
To get to the search results more quickly you can navigate beyond the links at the top of the webpage by pressing the right arrow key or Tab until it reads out the first search result, alternatively you can press the H key which will take you to the first header which should be the first search result.
