REHACare Dusseldorf.

Last week the Dolphin team attended the REHACare exhibition in Dusseldorf, where our European customers were able to try out the latest Dolphin software and preview the new EasePublisher, Digital audio eBbook software.

Supernova's easy internet browsing and powerful verbosity settings proved real winners among our customers and deserve a closer look. Verbosity settings allow you to pick any Windows control, and choose the way, and the order in which it is described. You can do the same with speech as with Braille. The scheme can be saved under a name of your choice, and then toggled with a hot key. You can also apply a verbosity level to a settings file, so you can have different verbosity in different applications. There are 57 Windows controls, plus their states (selected, unselected, checked, unchecked, greyed etc) so you have full control over how your screen reader describes Windows. You can even add 'help text' to a control.

Spanish & Catalan language release.

Dolphin is well known for its support of international languages, and we are pleased to introduce Supernova, Hal, Lunar and LunarPlus in Catalan. With over 6 million inhabitants and Barcelona as its capital, Catalonia is an important commercial region in eastern Spain. The translation to Catalan was sponsored in part by the Fundacion Manuel Caragol, a charity dedicated to providing information, services and training to both blind and partially sighted people in Catalonia. The Catalan version of Supernova is proving of real interest, and has already been taken up by the Government of Andorra. As there is currently no Catalan voice in Orpheus, the Atlas synthesiser is recommended (www.atlas-cti.com this link opens in a new window) The Castilian Spanish release of Dolphin software is scheduled for November 1st and will include the Via Voice speech synthesiser.
