Newry & Kilkeel Institute has been chosen by Dolphin Computers as the referral site within Northern Ireland to showcase their latest literacy support software, EasyProducer and EasyTutor.
It is becoming more important in today’s environment for educators and institutions at all levels to ensure students can access all learning materials. DAISY has long been recognized as the best way of providing this but has in the past been seen as time consuming and difficult to create. This is no longer the case.
Dolphin Producer allows the user to convert text to a fully accessible Digital Talking Book (DAISY) in an instant. By creating the DTB you also create an accessible MP3 of the selected text. For the first time it is now possible to create accessible content easily, cheaply and in multiple formats for all.
Dolphin EasyTutor is the perfect solution for people who have difficulty reading, writing and spelling. Computer users can create and read documents with EasyTutor’s high quality supportive text to speech, predictive text, spellchecker and homophone support features. Scanned documents as well as the web can be read aloud, all via the intuitive user-friendly Tutor toolbar.
All literacy support tutors within Newry & Kilkeel Institute will be trained to be fully conversant with both pieces of software to ensure any student requiring support can receive the training needed.
