Countdown to Smart Hal

9th Mar, 2007

To be launched in March 2007 (both in the UK and US), Smart Hal enables blind and low vision individuals to communicate, work, learn and be entertained using the very same mobile phone handsets as used by fully sighted colleagues, relatives and friends. It does this by simply speaking aloud the contents of the screen. Not so simple is developing the software that makes it do this, and to tell the story of how this is achieved is Dolphin's very own Mobile Product Manager, Dave Williams.

Fresh from his ground-breaking tour of America that was recorded on a highly popular online blog, Dave has this time been locked in the office developing Smart Hal and writing the forthcoming blog. As well as being entertaining the blog will show how Dolphin's accessibility software is keeping pace with fast-moving mobile technologies in offering even more independence to the visually impaired community.

Dave will take his blog readers behind the scenes as he puts the finishing touches to Smart Hal. Visitors to the blog pages will learn more about the extensive beta testing process and will be introduced to the Smart Hal development team, eccentricities and all!

So please visit the Smart Hal blog site for regular updates on the 'countdown to launch'.
