RNIB's NB Magazine Review Smart Hal
9th Aug, 2007
In this months edition of the RNIB NB Magazine, Madleen Mann from their High Tech Department reviews Dolphin's newest screen reader for Windows Mobile Smartphones, Smart Hal. Anyone who has tried a free 30 days Smart Hal
trial for themselves, won't be surprised to hear the prognosis was excellent!
Feedback from Dolphin customers tells us that they love the Eloquence voice and the fact that Dolphin don't charge a cross grade fee if you lose, upgrade or replace your handset, a point that NB also picked up on
"Smart Hal comes with two keys [lives], handy if you accidentally lose, damage or upgrade your phone. If you change your phone you do not need to buy an additional cross grade licence."
Smart Hal runs on some of the very latest handsets that run the Windows Mobile 5 & Windows Mobile 6 handsets including the popular T Mobile Dash and Orange E650. NB magazine were quick to recognise the user benefits of running a Windows operating system, that would work and feel familiar to most technology users.
"To access the web, it [Smart Hal] has the advantage of using familiar options similar to those on widely used Windows platforms - browsing the web with Internet Explorer, listening to audio with Windows Media Player or keeping track of appointments using the Calendar and Task List."
NB even described the price of Smart Hal as a "good feature", an achievement in itself. It must be good!
