Guide Software was one of the stars of the recent exhibition in Bath on 28th August. Our all-in-one software package was perceived as 'a great life-enhancing tool' that can make life more enjoyable for those who are blind or partially sighted.

Honing I.T. skills might not seem a possibility if you're blind or partially-sighted. But a Bath charity has unveiled new computer software that could prove to be a boon for visually-impaired people in the city.
The computer wizardry was part of an exhibition of aids for the partially-sighted hosted by Vision Bath in Green Park. The all-in-one computer package is produced by Software Express and allows functions such as word processing, email and the internet to be magnified and spoken. The programme is designed to be simple to use and can also be used with a scanner to read books and magnify them on screen.
Vision Bath's general manager Sandra Niven said the technology could play a vital role in preventing social isolation suffered by many visually impaired people.
"A PC is a wonderful way to keep in touch and can also make tasks such as letter writing, paying utility bills, shopping and managing a bank account so much easier," she said.
"While this is nothing new to the sighted world, those with vision impairment have largely been excluded from the IT revolution."
"Now that specialist software is available, a PC can be a great life-enhancing tool."
Other aids available from the charity include cups that indicate when they are nearly full, large button microwaves, magnifiers and telephones.
"Part of our remit is to help the visually-impaired lead independent lives," added Mrs Niven. "We can do this by introducing them to devices that can make practical tasks from making a cup of tea to using a computer much less difficult for them.
"Today with the advances in technology there are many aids that can make life more tolerable for our clients in a practical sense."
