Quotation marks openThere was a really strong field of candidates. Judges were impressed by the sheer number of nominations for SAGE by library staff and the glowing feedback that highlighted their responsiveness, exemplary standards of service and commitment to end users."

The JISC TechDis Publisher Lookup Awards were presented by Peter Griffiths, Past President, CILIP and former Head of Information at The Home Office and sponsored by Dolphin Computer Access and iansyst Ltd, organisations that promote independence amongst disabled people, and who have been keen supporters of the awards from the beginning.

Ian Litterick, Executive Chairman at iansyst Ltd commented:

Quotation marks openWe are thrilled to support the exceptional contribution entrants to this year's awards are making to the lives of people with disabilities. The collaboration between librarians and publishers, combined with tremendous advances in assistive technology is now opening the world of books to everyone, moving the UK a step closer to a truly inclusive society."

Steven Palmer, Group Chairman at Dolphin, added:

Quotation marks openPublisher Lookup is making some fantastic progress by enabling schools and libraries to quickly source electronic versions of books from Publishers. I'm absolutely delighted for Dolphin to be supporting such a great initiative. Readers with visual impairments and dyslexia cannot just pick up a printed copy of a book; they need an electronic version. These awards show the great commitment made by a number of Publishers and set a great example for others to follow."

Huw Alexander, Rights & Digital Sales Manager, who received the award on behalf of SAGE said:

Quotation marks openI'd like to take this opportunity to thank all those who kindly voted for us. The creation of the Publisher Lookup website and the blossoming of the digital space have done so much to open up content to the visually impaired and print disabled. We are keen to utilize these opportunities to provide a better service to our customers. The real winners here are the customers. We will strive to improve our services in the future to make sure that we are as responsive as possible and that our content is even more accessible to those who need it."

Publishers Hodder Education and Wiley-Blackwell, also present at the awards ceremony, were both highly commended for their excellent service, consistently good response rates and willingness to provide materials on request and received commemorative plaques.
