Dolphin launches Pocket Hal
Tomorrows Technology available for all - TODAY
2nd Nov, 2005
Dolphin today announces the launch of Pocket Hal, a screen reader developed specifically for standard PDAs.
With massive investment programmes in mobile technology, PDAs are fast becoming the preferred IT solution for the mass market, with products becoming ever more affordable. Dolphin has developed the Pocket Hal screen reader so that blind and low vision computer users can have access to the same levels of technology, at the same regular prices, as that enjoyed by their sighted colleagues.
In a world where more and more people enjoy increased mobility, either through work, study or leisure, PDA solutions offer a state of the art pocket communications network when you're on the move. No longer do you need to be a slave to your computer, with an accessible PDA you're in control. Now you have the ability to choose a mobile solution that fits your life!
Pocket Hal provides users with access to everyday Windows® based desktop data and applications via a Windows Mobile based PDA. It can be used with most of the popular PDAs found in retail stores, and offers users an effective alternative to the traditional large handheld Braille devices. With the flexibility to choose a range of wireless input and output devices you can decide whether to use the Braille or keyboard options.
What Pocket Hal users say:
"Pocket Hal, combined with my Windows CE based PDA, allows me to access everything I need, on the move. Pocket Hal has given me access to an environment that until now was totally off limits to those of us who are blind or visually impaired" - Jim from Indiana, USA.
"Dolphin has created a screen reader that will work on my PDA and allows me to access all my popular PDA applications using the PDA buttons. There is no need to ever touch the screen and I only need to use my Bluetooth keyboard when I am inputting information" - Jim from Colorado, USA.
"I wanted to let you know that I think Pocket Hal is the best thing to come along since the invention of screen readers for the PC. I tried everything to get a portable solution and was very unhappy with everything I tried, then comes Pocket Hal. I can use my iPaq 6515 just like everyone else now. I can keep a real address book and use a portable compiler to work on the road. Thanks a million Dolphin!" - Robert from Tennessee, USA.
