New College Partner with Dolphin to Celebrate Student Potential at Family Day
12th Nov, 2012

Families with children who are partially sighted or blind from across the UK, plan to visit New College Worcester on Saturday 17 November to take part in a range of activities for all ages and discover how students with vision impairments: achieve academically, live active social lives and prepare for higher education or employment.
Amy joined New College Worcester in early 2012. Since then Amy has studied more effectively using a laptop equipped with Dolphin SuperNova software which magnifies and highlights web pages and Microsoft Windows applications.
Peter Bryenton, IT teacher says "When Amy joined us she could use a laptop but needed some support to get the best use out of it. Since practising her skills she has become much more proficient with keyboard shortcuts and uses SuperNova to change the colour of her mouse pointer, which has been very useful to her. SuperNova is the stepping stone that helps her study effectively."
On moving from a mainstream school to New College Worcester, Amy says "I did think it was the right choice for me. My grades have gone up and I'm really happy."
Meet Amy in this short video:
The New College Worcester Family Day, presented in partnership with Dolphin Computer Access, includes: an art workshop, climbing wall, living skills and many more fun activities demonstrating the many and varied capabilities of students with vision impairments. Plus, visitors are invited to a free lunch and refreshments and tour of the college.
New College Worcester and partners Dolphin Computer Access have a shared goal to deliver support and tools to enable students who are blind or partially sighted to realise their full potential and become independent.
Dolphin SuperNova is ideal for students whose sight is changing, or organisations accommodating people with a wide range of visual impairments.
