SuperNova offers both Logical Braille mode and Physical Braille Mode.
Logical Braille Mode
In Logical Braille Mode, the Braille display will show the logical association of any text within the current focus. This mode is similar to a screen reader's speech output, and is particularly useful for working with dialog boxes, as the screen reader will associate the text labels in a dialog box with their corresponding controls.
For example, if you close a word processor without saving your document, a dialog box will appear prompting you to save your changes. At this point, the Logical Braille mode would display something like:
"Do you want to save the changes to mydocument.doc? Yes button"
Even though the "Yes" button is in a completely different place from the text message, the screen reader associates the text with the button. The nature of Logical Mode means that the Braille display will not show the position of items.
Physical Braille Mode
Physical Braille mode displays the physical layout of objects on the screen. In Physical Mode, when the current control is not an edit area, the characters of the focus will be underlined by raising dots 7 and 8.
For example, if you close a word processor without saving your document, a dialog box will appear prompting you to save your changes. At this point, the Braille would show something like:
"Yes (gap) No (gap) Cancel"
The word "Yes" will be underlined indicating it is the focus.
When using an edit area in Physical mode, a blinking cursor will appear in the Braille display to represent the cursor as normal.
