EasyProducer Case Study: DAISY reaches Blackburn Rovers

Chris Tattersall is a blind Blackburn Rovers fan and one of a number of people using alternative formats creatively for everyday use.

"I have always been a fan of Blackburn Rovers and go to all the home games.  Several years ago, as I walked to my seat I passed someone shouting "get your Rover’s programmes here." It was then that I thought would it be possible to produce Rover’s Programmes in an accessible format?"

For four years now Chris has been producing the match day programmes at Blackburn Rovers in Braille and has recently started using Dolphin's EasyProducer to create DAISY books. He then distributes them at no cost to fans who require them in the disabled section.

"Since I have introduced the DAISY CDs they have been really popular and EasyProducer has made it really easy to convert the same files into DAISY format then burn onto a CD.  I have produced a DAISY CD for every home game of the 2006/07 season; this includes FA as well as UEFA Cup games."

Chris has had some help setting up his service; "In the summer of 2006 I received a grant to buy Dolphin's EasyProducer software."  The football club have also been really helpful by providing Chris with the content from the programme a couple of days before the match and the interest in Chris’s alt format programmes has soared.

Hopefully people like Chris, demonstrating how easy it is to provide alternative formats will encourage other entertainment venues, not just football clubs, to provide accessible materials for Visually Impaired people.
