I’ve recently set-up a social enterprise supplying text to speech at a community level. I am using Dolphin EasyProducer for the initial text to speech conversion. I find it intuitive to use and have found it to be the most accurate and clear sounding text to speech system available.

As a fairly new and emerging technology, there’s a very few number of playback software and hardware for DAISY. I’ve hands on tried and made use of the majority of playback hardware and software. If RFB&D has it, I used it. For our production, both EasyProducer and Dolphin Publisher are found to be the best in their market. Having both EasyProducer and Publisher allows us the luxury of assigning tasks based on difficulty. Smaller simpler products we can do using EasyProducer, while more difficult intense projects we use Publisher. This allows us to have a more productive and efficient office with a solutions-based set of tools.

EasyProducer is a Godsend to anyone responsible for producing audio materials for a blind or partially sighted person (or anyone needing to produce audio for themselves). Users will be saved hours of work recording information and marking up text with code as Producer seamlessly converts Word files to daisy format, adding high quality synthetic speech and synchronizing the audio with the text content, at the press of a button. Even the CD can be created in seconds. In addition, the Daisy structure allows easy navigation through the text. Although recording with the human voice is not an option, this is made up for by the extreme speed and ease with which a sophisticated daisy book with audio, images and text can be created. I love it because I will be able to show blind and partially sighted customers or teachers of visually impaired pupils that now, using Producer, they really do have the time and confidence to create their own daisy talking books from scratch.

We have found Dolphin Producer to be a very versatile piece of software. It is extremely easy to use and produces excellent quality Digital Talking Books (DTB) with several levels of navigation. Now we have Dolphin Producer, we are able to convert all our resources to digital talking books (DTBs) quickly and easily.

Just a quick message to say that I received the Producer package today. Installation was simple, and perfectly compatible with my screen reader, my first DTB around a 120 page print doc took around 4 mins to create, and works perfectly with easyreader (as you'd expect) as well as on my Victor player. Thanks for the additional American voices which also installed fine. Already I can see how this product will benefit us from a company perspective in the production of Daisy manuals for products such as Nova link and J-Say as well as our price list, and also me personally when I need to get through long documents and don't want to lug a PC around with me. A great product!
