Nimas Support
EasyConverter version 2 introduces NIMAS (National Instructional Materials Accessibility Standard) as a supported input format. In simple terms you will be able to input a NIMAS file that you have sourced from the NIMAC repository or other colleagues creating alternative formats and create the full range of output formats that EasyConverter offers ie Braille, large print, DAISY, MP3, and text files. Dolphin anticipate that the NIMAS functionality will prove most popular in the United States where the 2004 IDEA Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEA) has legislated that that all students, including visually and print impaired students, should have access to the general curriculum, and thus to the print materials of which it is composed.
Microsoft Word 2007 Support
Word 2007 documents with the new file extension .docx are supported as an input format. In order to successfully open a .docx file it is necessary to have Word 2007 installed on the operating system where EasyConverter resides.
Password Protected PDFs
PDF documents that are password protected can now be converted by entering the required password. PDF documents can have up to two security levels that require a password to be entered; these are referred to as "user" and "owner" passwords. If a PDF is password protected then Dolphin EasyConverter will prompt you to enter the password(s).
Synthesiser Exclusion List
Version 2 includes a text to speech engine (synthesiser) exclusion list. This external file contains information on known problem synthesisers that may be locked to another access technology product eg TruVoice TTS engine and therefore can not be accessed by EasyConverter. The editing of the exclusion list will require administrator's rights and with the assistance of your Dolphin dealer or a member of Dolphin's Product Support Team.
