OCR Decomposition Method

In EasyConverter v5.02, users can choose how EasyConverter should interpret their document during the scanning and OCR process by selecting a decomposition method. Selecting a decomposition method is ideal for users who are scanning complicated documents with multiple columns. Four options include:

  • Auto: EasyConverter will attempt to choose the best scanning method for the OCR process
  • Simple: EasyConverter's default setting; Simple is ideal for documents containing a simple layout and very few graphics
  • Standard: Ideal for more complex document layouts
  • Fast: Designed for a quick turnaround and ideal for documents with no graphics and a simple one column layout

Fixes in v5.02

Open project files from EasyConverter v4 and previous

Users of EasyConverter v5.02 can now open their project files created using version 4 and previous.

Inline headings are detected

EasyConverter 5.02 now recognises inline headings. Inline headings refer to headings that are placed in the middle of a "normal" line of text, making them harder for readers to spot. EasyConverter uses these headings, along with all other headings, as navigational points in the output files.

Removed "True Page" and "Flowing Page" settings from OCR Editor

The settings for saving scanned images using the EasyConverter OCR Editor have been reduced to include only the fully accessible options. Previously, saving a scanned document as "True page" or "Flowing page" created a document that was not fully accessible. These options have subsequently been removed, leaving options to save a scanned document as accessible "Formatted text" or "Plain text."

Network path support

With EasyConverter v5.02, users can now select documents from, and save their EasyConverter projects to their central network drives using UNC paths.

UNC (Unified Naming Convention) refers to central network location paths which start with a "\\".

EasyConverter's added support for UNC paths ensures that users can integrate EasyConverter files into their existing network of documents more effectively than ever.
