EasyReader Express Case Study: EasyReader Express added to over 14,000 DAISY Talking Books at NLB

Dolphin EasyReader Express is a new and exciting web-based subscription service which allows DAISY talking book providers to add an Express version of EasyReader to their DAISY talking book.

Here, Olav Indergaard explains to Dolphin the benefits that the Norwegian Library of Talking Books and Braille (NLB) have experienced in adding EasyReader Express to their DAISY talking books:

"NLB (The Norwegian Library of Talking Books and Braille) has been a provider of DAISY-content for several years. One of our challenges as a DAISY-content provider has been to ensure that our users have access to DAISY-playback systems in order to fully utilize the DAISY-format. NLB therefore decided to provide DAISY-player software to all our users by including a DAISY-player in all our books. EasyReader Express was the software of choice."

Like many DAISY talking book libraries, NLB had an existing catalogue of a number of DAISY talking books. In NLB's case, this was over 14,000 DAISY talking books. Dolphin worked with NLB to make sure that EasyReader Express could be added to all their DAISY talking books with the minimum hassle.

NLB had 14000 DAISY-books that required bundling with Dolphin EasyReader Express at the time of implementing the software. As it would be a time consuming task to add EasyReader Express to all the books one by one, we contacted Dolphin and they provided us with EasyReader Express batch file software. By using this software, we bundled EasyReader Express with all 14000 books with great ease in less than 8 hours. Because of the small file size of EasyReader Express (less than 8 Mb), space requirements have never been an issue and all new books from NLB are now automatically bundled with EasyReader Express."
